The Senior Physiotherapist plays a crucial role in delivering therapeutic, clinical, diagnostic, and preventive services to clients, families, and the community. The aim is to create functional solutions to everyday challenges faced by clients in their various environments. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of musculoskeletal development, human movement mechanics, kinesiology, pathology, cardiorespiratory function, and neurology. The Senior Physiotherapist is also involved in program development related to their area of expertise and participates in educational and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive Physiotherapy assessments utilizing advanced skills, knowledge, and clinical judgment within the designated area.
  • Employs advanced clinical expertise to design and implement tailored Physiotherapy treatment plans for clients, including innovative solutions to assessment and treatment challenges.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and care plans.
  • Evaluates the necessity for specific client equipment and assists clients and families in acquiring the necessary tools to meet individual needs by coordinating with relevant agencies and suppliers.
  • Fosters effective communication with clients, families, and caregivers to promote optimal client progress through supportive and collaborative relationships.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Sciences and/or licensure with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC).
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience, including one year with the designated patient population within a recognized health facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of 50 hours of postgraduate coursework related to advanced procedures or techniques relevant to the assigned area.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to function as a team member, providing motivation and facilitation.
  • Competence in delivering effective consultations.
  • Experience in developing educational programs and materials.
  • Commitment to understanding and integrating legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic and historical contexts affecting Indigenous Peoples, along with familiarity with anti-racism and cultural safety initiatives.

BC Children's Hospital provides specialized care for critically ill or injured children and youth across the province. Sunny Hill Health Centre offers dedicated developmental and rehabilitation services for children and their families.
