Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowmaking Operations Lead to join our team at Conservation Halton. As a key member of our snowmaking team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our snowmaking program, ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality snow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of snowmaking staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and maintain snowmaking equipment, including snow guns, pumps, and pipes, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues or concerns to the maintenance team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve snowmaking efficiency and quality, including adjusting snow gun settings and relocating equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Grooming and Ski Patrol, to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed, and that staff are trained and equipped to work safely in a variety of conditions.
  • Provide guidance and support to snowmaking staff, including training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Work closely with the snowmaking coordinator to develop and implement snowmaking plans, including scheduling and resource allocation.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in snowmaking operations, with a strong understanding of snowmaking equipment and techniques.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, as well as work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • First aid and CPR training, or willingness to obtain.
