Job Summary

The Registration/Booking Clerk for Ambulatory Clinics will be responsible for scheduling and booking patient appointments, receiving and registering patients, and performing various administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and book patient appointments using a computerized scheduling system, ensuring that appointments are booked in accordance with patient and departmental requirements.
  • Receive and register patients upon arrival, ensuring that patient demographics and information are complete and accurate.
  • Perform referral functions, including gathering additional information, performing data entry, and receiving and processing related paperwork.
  • Provide receptionist and clerical support, including answering telephones, responding to inquiries, and performing various administrative tasks.
  • Assemble and maintain client charts, utilizing appropriate forms and layout in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain various records, including data entry, collating information, and maintaining log sheets and patient statistics.
  • Provide clerical support to the department, including booking meetings, following up on action items, and performing various administrative tasks.
  • Prepare and submit expense claims, ensuring that invoices are coded to the correct cost centre and authorized for payment.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard 45 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
