Job Summary

The Registration/Booking Clerk, Ambulatory Clinics role is a key position within the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) that requires strong organizational and communication skills. As a member of the BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre team, you will be responsible for scheduling and booking patient appointments, ensuring accurate and timely registration of patients, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and book patient appointments using a computerized scheduling system, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Receive and register patients upon arrival, ensuring that all necessary information is complete and accurate.
  • Perform referral functions, including gathering additional information, performing data entry, and receiving and processing related paperwork.
  • Provide clerical support to the department, including answering telephones, responding to inquiries, and preparing correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including patient demographics, appointment schedules, and referral information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
