Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the equipment and supply needs of the endoscopy and/or operating room are met. They will provide assistance to the operating room nurses with patient needs, including positioning and transport. They will be responsible for the immediate bedside cleaning of endoscopes following procedures, cleaning of the endoscopy suite/operating rooms between cases, and setting up endoscopes for next procedures in a manner that adheres to guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA, PIDAC, CSAO, and Health Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the case cart/picking system, including JIT and non-JIT supplies and instrumentation.
  • Manage and assist with the reprocessing needs of the department as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure all reprocessing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications
  • Current certification in a recognized college Medical Device Reprocessing Course required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered; MDRAO (CSAO) or CSA Certification with a minimum of one-year relevant experience in Medical Device Reprocessing.
  • Previous Medical Reprocessing Sterilization and Reprocessing experience required.
  • Operating Room Technician course and previous OR related experience required.
  • Critical thinking skills and strong decision-making abilities are an asset.
  • Understanding of the concepts of teams and teamwork within the operating room.
  • Excellent communication skills- both oral and written.
  • Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
  • Must be comfortable working alone if the situation occurs.
