Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the equipment and supply needs of the endoscopy and/or operating room are met. They will provide assistance to the operating room nurses (endoscopy) with appropriate patient needs, including positioning and transport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Immediate bedside cleaning of endoscopes following procedures
  • Cleaning of the endoscopy suite/operating rooms between cases
  • Setting up endoscopes for next procedure in a manner that adheres to guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA, PIDAC, CSAO, and Health Canada
  • Management of the case cart/picking system, including JIT and non-JIT supplies and instrumentation
  • Management and assistance of the reprocessing needs of the department as needed
Qualifications
  • Current certification in a recognized college Medical Device Reprocessing Course required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered; MDRAO (CSAO) or CSA Certification with a minimum of one-year relevant experience in Medical Device Reprocessing
  • Previous Medical Reprocessing Sterilization and Reprocessing experience required
  • Operating Room Technician course and previous OR related experience required
  • Critical thinking skills and strong decision-making abilities are an asset
  • Understanding of the concepts of teams and teamwork within the operating room
  • Excellent communication skills- both oral and written
  • Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
  • Must be comfortable working alone if the situation occurs
