As a pivotal member of CPA Ontario's Standards Enforcement team, you will play an essential role in the evaluation and analysis of complaints regarding professional misconduct. The Standards Enforcement team is tasked with ensuring that the public can rely on effective regulation of the profession while providing timely due process to members, students, and firms involved in complaints.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading initial investigations into allegations of professional misconduct against CPA Ontario members, students, and firms. This involves effective communication with both complainants and respondents to collect necessary information and documentation.
  • Offering technical expertise in accounting and assurance during the preliminary investigation of complaints.
  • Reviewing evidence submitted by involved parties, conducting thorough research, and formulating risk-adjusted case plans to gather and evaluate evidence regarding potential breaches of the CPA Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and documentation that will assist the Director of Standards Enforcement and the Professional Conduct Committee in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Participating in and leading special projects and initiatives while collaborating with various departments to support the organization’s strategic and regulatory objectives.
  • Engaging in CPA Ontario and CPA Canada committees, working groups, and task forces on matters related to the CPA Code of Professional Conduct and the operations of the Standards Enforcement department.

Who You Are:

  • A graduate with a CPA designation, currently in good standing with CPA Ontario.
  • Experienced in public accounting within a regulatory or compliance context.
  • A skilled multi-tasker who thrives in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment and adept at managing a diverse and complex caseload.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of public speaking, presentation, and report writing.
  • A proactive individual with a commitment to continuous improvement and a positive attitude.
  • Digitally proficient, with strong skills in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Salesforce; familiarity with data analytics tools such as Power BI is highly advantageous.
