The position of Territory Manager for Coronary Therapies demands an individual with a robust sales aptitude who thrives in a collaborative environment, closely partnering with clinical specialists. A solid understanding of the catheterization lab is essential, as is the ability to cultivate strong relationships with physicians and hospital staff. The Interventional Cardiology division at Boston Scientific is seeking energetic, driven, and passionate individuals eager to embark on a rewarding career path.
As a Territory Manager for Coronary Therapies, you will have the opportunity to market products aimed at addressing Cardiovascular Diseases, Coronary Artery Disease, and Acute Myocardial Infarction. Your role will involve providing various solutions to patients, including Coronary Drug-Coated Balloons (AGENT), Coronary Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Drug-Eluting Stents, Catheters, Balloons, Guide Wires, and Coronary Atherectomy, while promoting company offerings within a designated geographic area. Success will be achieved by developing new accounts and enhancing the use of company products within existing accounts to meet sales targets aligned with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct sales activities by scheduling meetings with current and prospective clients to achieve revenue and unit growth goals set by the company on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Formulate and execute sales strategies by assessing critical factors (e.g., product offerings, competitive landscape, and pricing requirements) of existing and potential accounts to effectively promote the company's products to relevant hospital personnel and physicians.
- Create action plans (i.e., weekly, quarterly, monthly) by analyzing sales data and reports to identify the needs of specific accounts, collaborating with the Regional Sales Manager to support the organization in reaching its annual sales targets.
- Assess the needs (e.g., product and pricing), objectives, product usage, and types of cases managed by specific clients through in-depth discussions with physicians and hospital staff to determine which Boston Scientific products can best meet their requirements.
- Observe procedures in the cardiac catheterization or electrophysiology lab and operating room of hospital accounts to gain insights into the specific preferences of each physician and lab staff member.
- Establish pricing structures by collaborating with relevant Boston Scientific personnel to determine price points that meet specific customer needs while adhering to company guidelines and policies.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns regarding products and services by devising innovative and practical solutions or coordinating with other relevant personnel (e.g., clinical research, pricing, and marketing) to develop optimal responses.
- Build relationships with hospital personnel (e.g., through informal conversations, meetings, and participation in conferences) to establish new contacts in various departments and identify key purchasing decision-makers to facilitate future sales.
- Educate clients on the advantages and proper clinical application of company products through presentations and demonstrations utilizing diverse formats and platforms (e.g., slides, manuals) to secure purchasing commitments, often supported by incentive programs and services available to the account being developed.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 7 years of prior sales experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A four-year degree with a background in sales and a proven record of success will contribute to a successful team approach in selling within the catheterization lab and to physicians.
- Strong clinical, analytical, and sales skills are essential for this role.
- Problem-solving abilities and a readiness to be coached and guided by team members will foster collaboration and success in selling IVUS, DES, balloons, and a comprehensive range of specialty products.
- Residency within the assigned geographic territory is required.
The anticipated annual base salary for this full-time position is $65,000, complemented by variable compensation governed by the Sales Incentive Compensation Plan, which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives, along with the value of core and optional benefits offered at Boston Scientific. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable experience, training, relevant education, including licensure and certifications, and other pertinent business or organizational needs.
