Reporting to the HRIS Manager, the HR Information Systems Analyst is tasked with enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of all HR Information Systems. This role requires expertise in HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, and Pension Administration processing procedures, ensuring operational execution and successful implementation of design changes and enhancements.

The Analyst will utilize PeopleSoft modules and explore new features and functionalities, while also developing and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and productivity. This position supports projects related to continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and HR operational activities.

Additionally, the Analyst serves as a primary resource for functional support to technical teams, HRIS Records Analysts, HR Business Partners, payroll, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Senior Business Analyst to implement enhancements, modifications, and upgrades for existing systems while troubleshooting production issues related to the HRIS System(s) and interfaces.
  • Develop functional documentation, conduct testing, and implement system changes while coordinating with various teams across IT and other departments throughout the project lifecycle or during troubleshooting.
  • Engage in projects related to benefits, compensation, payroll, time and labor, performance management, learning, absence management, and professional development, as well as IT recruitment projects and external interfaces.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance system effectiveness, manage end-to-end project deployment, participate in design workshops, and liaise with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist the Senior Business Analyst in HRIS Support, troubleshoot production issues, create documentation (including system and user documentation), manage security, and generate reports (including queries and SQL). Offer suggestions for process improvements and efficient management of HRIS systems.
  • Recommend enhancements or modifications to systems and processes to boost productivity and collaborate with others to evaluate new technologies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of HRIS systems and support integration with other systems; stay updated on current technology developments, collective agreements, and best practices. Collaborate with team members to support and coordinate unit projects.
  • Perform additional duties such as tax updates, year-end changes, workforce administration, and other PeopleSoft modules.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a 3-year diploma or degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a business analyst with proficiency in PeopleSoft (Payroll, Workforce Administration, Time and Labor, and Absence Management), PeopleQuery, SQL, and Human Resources (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Access, with the ability to manipulate data effectively.
  • Experience in reporting using the PeopleSoft Query tool.
