Position Overview:

The Facilities and Services division is dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and sustainable environment for all stakeholders. This includes the management of over $3.5 billion in physical assets and extensive service operations across numerous buildings.

Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Manager of Business Improvement & Strategic Initiatives plays a crucial role within the Facilities and Services senior management team. This position focuses on establishing strategic and operational priorities for the campus, collaborating with various departments to enhance the quality and efficiency of university facilities and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize university operations.
  2. Develop and implement performance metrics and dashboards to monitor progress.
  3. Lead projects aimed at refining business processes and enhancing service delivery.
  4. Facilitate process improvement sessions using methodologies such as LEAN and Six Sigma.
  5. Engage with senior leadership to identify areas for enhancement and secure support for initiatives.
  6. Prepare and present annual operational plans and reports in alignment with the strategic objectives of Facilities and Services.

Qualifications:

Education: A university degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Lean Six Sigma certification, particularly at the black belt level, is highly desirable.

Experience: A minimum of six to ten years of relevant experience in leading process improvements, with a strong background in project management and client service.

Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proven experience in managing diverse teams and facilitating consensus across departments.

Additional Attributes: Ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain professionalism under pressure. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a dynamic environment is essential.
