This role requires a licensed professional who practices in accordance with National/Provincial Standards and Code of Ethics and Department Procedures, Policies and Standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management. They will also be involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community.
This is a multifaceted and dynamic role that requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams. The Health Care Social Worker will be responsible for supervising undergraduate and graduate students in work placements and providing consultation based upon an advanced level of education (MSW) which includes an integrated knowledge of the social, structural, emotional, psychological, and cultural factors that affect well-being.
", "Requirements": "About YouWe are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Completion of a Master of Social Work degree from a recognized university
- Registration and Membership in the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social Workers
- Two years clinical experience as a Social Worker
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of human behaviour including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behaviour change
- Experience in oncology, grief and loss, advance care planning, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, and an in-depth understanding of the continuum of care
- Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be an asset
- Leap palliative care training preferred
- Proven self-directed leadership
- Advanced leadership training in working with people with developmental disabilities
- Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
This is a long assignment full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will work from home with some travel to Yarmouth Regional Hospital as required.
