RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Foreperson of Facilities Maintenance, the Facilities Serviceperson is responsible for the routine upkeep of all Transit facility assets. Key duties include:

  • Conducting daily maintenance of Transit facilities and associated equipment.
  • Assisting the Millwright and/or Utility personnel as required.
  • Performing cleaning and maintenance tasks, including drywall repairs, painting, and minor plumbing work.
  • Operating a forklift for shipping, receiving, and equipment repair tasks.
  • Managing waste disposal, including sharps and bodily fluids, from Transit properties.
  • Executing preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment such as hoists and fire suppression systems.
  • Installing and removing bus shelters and bus stop signage.
  • Cleaning and maintaining bus shelters and stops using pressure washing equipment.
  • Removing snow and performing winter maintenance at Transit facilities and bus stops.
  • Carrying out other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent secondary education as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Experience operating a 4-wheel drive truck with a trailer.
  • Experience operating a 4-wheel drive truck equipped with a snow plow and salter.
  • Experience in general shop maintenance, including carpentry and plumbing.
  • A valid class G driver's license in good standing, with the ability to upgrade to a class DZ license.
  • A current forklift operator's certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • A current Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform Certificate or the ability to obtain these certifications.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Able to work at various heights (above 20 feet).
  • Able to work shifts and variable hours.
  • Able to manage the physical demands of the role.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of using personal protective equipment and safety gear to perform tasks safely.
