About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Compliance and Deployment Specialist to join our team at Air Canada. As a key member of our cargo operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating the smooth deployment of customs mandates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customs Compliance: Investigate and resolve customs compliance failures, working with stations to implement corrective actions and mitigate customs fines.
  • Customs Mandate Deployment: Launch new or revised customs mandates, coordinating activities with stations, IT, GHAs, regulators, Communications, Training, and Engineering teams.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Provide expertise and support to Communications, Procedures, Training, and Engineering teams on customs-related initiatives.
  • Customs Database Management: Maintain the customs database with new or revised requirements, messaging logistics, vendors, and escalation contacts.
  • Station Support: Deliver ongoing support to the YYZ ACI Desk, ensuring they have the required technology, regulations, coaching, and access to expertise.
  • Procedure Development: Provide content to the Procedures team regarding customs-related initiatives for PUB, ACCLR, and Advisory updates.
  • Marketing Support: Provide content to the Marketing team for external communication regarding customs initiatives.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain constant communication with Operations and Commercial teams regarding pending mandates, potential roadblocks, and resolutions.
Safety First
  • Ensure Safety, Security, and Service Standards: Ensure Safety, Security, and Service standards are part of all Cargo agreements and monitored through Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Compliance with IOSA Standards: Compliance with IOSA standards, SMS, and other application authorities. Assure the good management of all Cargo Contracts.
  • Allocate Operations Resources: Allocate operations equipment, labour, financial resources, and policies for Air Canada to ensure effective safety and security of operations.
Qualifications
  • Cargo Operational Experience: 1-3 years of Cargo Operational experience with knowledge of Cargo Customs.
  • Priority Management: Ability to effectively and simultaneously manage to completion a large volume of priorities.
  • Microsoft 365 Skills: Strong capabilities in Microsoft 365.
  • Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Unionized and Management Environments: Proven ability to function well in both unionized and management environments.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills.
  • Risk Assessment: Understanding risk assessment.
