Position Overview

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse in Maternity Relief is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients and their families. This role involves working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary framework to ensure the highest standards of care are delivered in alignment with the mission and values of Providence Health Care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough assessments of patient conditions through various methods including chart reviews, direct observation, and patient interviews.
  2. Develop and execute individualized care plans based on clinical judgment and evidence-based practices.
  3. Provide nursing care in accordance with established protocols and standards, ensuring safety and quality in all interventions.
  4. Monitor patient progress, reassess care plans as necessary, and document all relevant information accurately.
  5. Deliver direct nursing interventions during critical situations, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  6. Educate patients and families on health management, incorporating teaching strategies into care plans.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and support team dynamics.
  8. Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. A minimum of two years of recent experience in a maternity environment is required, along with current neonatal resuscitation certification. Strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential.

Additional Information
