Nuclear Medicine PET Technologist

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will engage in all facets of clinical PET/CT imaging. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Imaging: Execute comprehensive PET/CT scans by selecting suitable imaging protocols, positioning patients accurately, conducting image acquisition, and reconstructing data for the PET physician's review.
  • Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are well-informed about the scanning process, addressing any inquiries, and securing informed consent prior to the procedure.
  • Technical Duties: Perform essential technical tasks such as correlating clinical histories with examinations, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer injections, and monitoring blood glucose levels before administering radiotracers.
  • Patient Safety Monitoring: Vigilantly observe patients during procedures, checking vital signs and being prepared to respond to emergencies according to established protocols, including the potential need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate PET and associated CT machinery in compliance with industry standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Completion of a recognized PET/CT educational program or equivalent training and experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmacy, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Proficiency with PET/CT imaging systems and related software applications.
  • Understanding of research methodologies and processes.
  • Exceptional patient care skills across diverse age groups.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with clinical information systems and related equipment.
