Position: Nuclear Medicine PET Technologist

Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive clinical PET/CT imaging procedures, including the selection of suitable imaging protocols, patient positioning, image acquisition, data reconstruction, and delivering the finalized image dataset to the interpreting physician.
- Prepare patients for scanning by thoroughly explaining the procedure, addressing any questions, and securing informed consent prior to commencement.
- Conduct technical tasks such as correlating clinical histories with the required examinations, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer administration, and monitoring blood glucose levels before radiotracer injection.
- Ensure patient safety throughout procedures by monitoring vital signs and observing for any signs of distress, responding to emergencies in line with facility protocols, which may include performing CPR when necessary.
- Operate PET and CT imaging equipment in compliance with established operational standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Completion of formal education in PET/CT, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or equivalent training and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient understanding of Nuclear Medicine protocols, radiopharmacy practices, and radiation safety measures.
- Familiarity with PET/CT imaging systems and associated software applications.
- Awareness of research methodologies and processes.
- High-level patient care competencies for individuals across all age groups.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment and clinical information systems.

- Dedication to fostering meaningful reconciliation in Canada as outlined by the TRC and related legislation.
