Position Overview:
The Nuclear Medicine PET Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services. This position involves:
- Executing comprehensive clinical PET/CT imaging, which includes selecting suitable imaging protocols, accurately positioning patients, conducting image acquisition, and reconstructing data for the PET physician's review.
- Preparing patients for scanning by thoroughly explaining the procedures, addressing any questions, and securing informed consent before initiating the process.
- Conducting technical tasks such as correlating clinical histories with examinations, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer administration, and monitoring blood glucose levels prior to radiotracer injection.
- Ensuring patient safety throughout procedures by monitoring vital signs and observing for any signs of distress, with the ability to respond to emergencies in line with facility protocols.
- Operating PET and CT equipment in accordance with established operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Completion of formal education in PET/CT, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or equivalent training.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmacy, and radiation safety protocols.
- Proficiency with PET/CT imaging systems and associated software applications.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and processes.
- Strong patient care skills applicable to diverse age groups.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of relevant clinical information systems and equipment.
