Position Overview

Purpose

As a key member of the Communications Team at FortisBC, this role is responsible for coordinating all external communications projects, ensuring timely delivery and optimal resource utilization.

Responsibilities

Project Planning

  • Develops and implements communications plans, collaborating with the Communications Project Manager to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Coordinates the development, production, and distribution of corporate and marketing communications, including print, digital, and social media channels.
  • Manages project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring effective use of internal and external resources.

Media Placement

  • Works with media placement agencies, advertising agencies, and creative/design studios to implement media plans, set schedules, and allocate budgets.
  • Coordinates the approval of media buy recommendations, placements, and advertisement schedules, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.

Production Process

  • Sources and negotiates with suppliers and production vendors, analyzing quotations to provide cost estimates and assessing their work for quality and accuracy.
  • Generates purchase requisitions, ensures proper job specifications, and reconciles invoices against quotations.
  • Monitors project progress, identifies risks, and collaborates with teams to devise solutions, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized diploma in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of three years of directly related and recent experience, including project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures involved in print production, including pre-press and printing technology, digital and social media.
  • Strong communications planning and project management skills, with sound budgeting and time management skills, including the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and proof-reading skills.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals, as well as various applications software in use in the department (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & suite of MS Office products).
