Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Project Coordinator to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our Communications Team, you will be responsible for coordinating all external communications projects, ensuring timely delivery and optimal resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Coordination
    • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and timelines to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather project requirements and ensure alignment with company objectives.
    • Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure optimal use of internal resources.
  • Media Placement and Advertising
    • Work with media placement agencies, advertising agencies, and creative/design studios to implement media plans, schedules, and budget allocations.
    • Coordinate the approval of media buy recommendations, placements, and advertisement schedules and details.
    • Ensure timely delivery of creative assets to agencies and receipt of advertising schedules and budgets.
  • Production Process and Quality Control
    • Source, interview, and negotiate with suppliers and production vendors to provide cost estimates and assess their work.
    • Generate purchase requisitions to ensure proper job specifications are provided to outside suppliers and reconcile invoices against quotations.
    • Monitor project progress, identify risks, barriers, and constraints, and work collaboratively with teams to devise solutions.
    • Document project phases and create summary reports for company management.
  • Requirements and Qualifications
    • Completion of a recognized diploma in Business Administration, Communications, or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
    • Minimum of three (3) years directly related and recent experience, including project management.
    • Thorough knowledge of procedures involved in print production, including pre-press and printing technology, digital and social media.
    • Thorough understanding of the use of communications media (collateral, web, advertising - print, radio, TV, online) to achieve client's objectives.
    • Ability to assess and evaluate the quality of supplier's work and evaluate estimates for accuracy.
    • Strong communications planning and project management skills with sound budgeting and time management skills, including the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Strong knowledge of written and digital project management tools.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and proof-reading skills.
    • Strong knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals and various applications software in use in the department (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & suite of MS Office products).
