CB Canada is a prominent and swiftly expanding wholesaler in the food sector, operating through an online platform and numerous retail locations across the country.

The Planning Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the Senior Planning Director by transforming the Merchants' vision into actionable plans that yield profitable outcomes. This position is tasked with the upkeep of sales, inventory, and margin strategies that align with financial objectives. The Planning Manager is also responsible for crafting plans that incorporate statistical forecasts, merchandise strategies, and industry insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Merchants, the wholesale sales team, the Web team, and the Senior Planning Director to develop and sustain an assortment strategy that aligns with overarching financial targets;
  • Create assortment strategies for sales, margin, and inventory to enhance productivity and meet financial aspirations;
  • Analyze previous year’s performance through post-mortem reports to inform and improve future planning;
  • Account for the effects of events and strategies for market entry or exit;
  • Generate weekly reports on sales, inventory, and margin for review by the Senior Planning Director and Merchants;
  • Evaluate current trends in strategy effectiveness based on actual sales data; adjust plans throughout the season to optimize sales and profitability while monitoring inventory levels;
  • Collaborate with the merchant to devise and recommend actions in response to ongoing business trends;
  • Engage with allocation and logistics teams to develop additional event options and determine initial stock allocations;
  • Continuously manage and refresh sales and inventory charts, P&L, providing analyses and recommendations to the Senior Planning Director and merchant;
  • Assess results for relevant product categories against planned performance and trends for monthly and seasonal sales, margin, and inventory;

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in retail or wholesale sales planning, inventory management, allocation/replenishment, financial planning, or financial analysis;
  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or statistics;
  • Experience in assortment planning is essential;
  • Familiarity with Amazon and wholesale commerce is advantageous;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to proactively address issues and propose solutions;
  • Excellent numerical skills; proficiency in mathematics as applied to retail;
