About This Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a dedicated Oncology General Practitioner to provide care for cancer patients in the South West region of Nova Scotia within the Oncology Unit.

This unit caters to an increasing number of patients requiring chemotherapy services, ensuring a private and comfortable environment for treatment.

Our oncology unit is equipped with a satellite pharmacy dedicated to the preparation of chemotherapy drugs, allowing for enhanced pharmacy involvement in patient education and treatment plans.

The unit is supported by a skilled team of nursing and specialist professionals.

This role is available for immediate start, joining two existing GP Oncology physicians who deliver outpatient clinical services to cancer patients five days a week.

A training stipend may be offered for Family Medicine physicians lacking oncology experience who are interested in this opportunity. The community serves a population of approximately 58,000 across three counties. This position is available immediately.

Expected Hours

  • Part-time hours (0.4 FTE)
  • Patient load is variable
Qualifications

  • Candidates must be eligible for certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Successful completion of oncology training as determined in collaboration with Cancer Care Nova Scotia.
Support is available for site visits, relocation, and additional oncology training.
