Job Summary

Opportunity International Canada is seeking a seasoned fundraising professional to join their team as Director of Philanthropy, Alberta. As a key member of the Philanthropy Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and growing a portfolio of major donors, including individuals, businesses, private foundations, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a regional strategy to maintain relationships with existing donors and identify new, prospective donors.
  • Cultivate authentic and meaningful relationships with donors to drive revenue growth.
  • Work closely with the VP of Philanthropy to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors, including individuals, businesses, private foundations, and community groups.
  • Develop and implement fundraising events and campaigns to engage donors and drive revenue growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, minimum.
  • CFRE designation, an asset.
  • 3-5 years of successful not-for-profit fundraising experience.
  • Proven track record of raising major gifts greater than $10,000 from private donors.
  • Highly organized with a high degree of technological proficiency, including experience with fundraising systems.
  • Experience in developing new relationships in a region while managing competing deadlines and attaining goals.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings, with a flexible schedule determined by donor availability and/or fundraising events.
  • Must be willing to work long hours to reach fundraising deadlines.
  • Must be willing to travel to meet with potential donors across the region.
  • Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally as needed.
