About the Role:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the position of Director, responsible for leading and supporting a dedicated team at the Southern Communications Centre in Calgary, Alberta. This role reports directly to the Associate Executive Director and is accountable for providing strategic direction, managing change, ensuring public safety, and meeting service standards while supporting the vision, mission, and goals of AHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead operational and strategic planning, setting clear objectives and goals for EMS Dispatch Communications and Deployment.
  • Support the development and implementation of projects into actionable operational initiatives and collaborate with AHS teams, partners, and stakeholders to deploy them.
  • Lead planning and initiative management, delivered through a Project Management Objectives (PMO) methodology.
  • Transform the culture to understand and utilize Change Leadership as a key to operational engagement and project implementation.
  • Promote, develop, and grow change management, leadership knowledge, and skills in our teams.
  • Identify and align processes and approaches to make AHS proactive and transparent when implementing change (local to provincial).
  • Work with multi-disciplinary groups and provide leadership at a provincial and zone level to guide all facets of operational EMS provision.
  • Lead evaluation and research on operational strategies used in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project/program management.
  • Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst groups, and build strong relationships with public agencies, governments, boards, committees, and other partners.
  • Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Alberta College of Paramedics approved program and ability to hold registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • A Master's Degree in a Health Sciences Discipline or equivalent level of education, training, and experience.
  • Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project and program management.
