EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW

Opportunity International Canada (OIC) is in search of a motivated and relationship-oriented fundraising professional to fill the role of Director of Philanthropy for Alberta.

As a vital member of the Philanthropy Team at OIC, the Director of Philanthropy will be tasked with managing and expanding a portfolio of significant donors, which encompasses individuals, corporate partners, private foundations, and community organizations. Collaborating closely with the VP of Philanthropy, the successful candidate will devise a regional strategy aimed at nurturing existing donor relationships while identifying and engaging new potential donors. This role requires cultivating genuine and impactful connections that will ultimately drive revenue growth. Members of the Philanthropy Team are deeply committed to the mission of Opportunity International and its dedication to fostering economic, spiritual, and social transformation. Furthermore, team members adhere to a Biblical framework and philosophy regarding fundraising and financial stewardship.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • CFRE designation is an asset.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts exceeding $10,000 from private donors.
  • Highly organized with strong technological proficiency, particularly with fundraising software; experience with Raiser's Edge is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing new relationships in a designated region while managing multiple deadlines and achieving goals.

Knowledge

  • Financial literacy that includes budgeting and a foundational understanding of financial statements.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the organization and cultural philanthropy, employing a proactive, innovative, and entrepreneurial approach to fundraising.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as schedules are often dictated by donor availability and fundraising events.
  • Willingness to work extended hours to meet fundraising deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel for meetings with potential donors across the region.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.
