About the Role

Vector Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Division Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for overseeing and administering our safety program, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Safety Performance: Promote awareness and accountability for health and safety performance across all levels of the division.
  • Monitor Safety Compliance: Maintain statistics and records, monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety violations, and assist in investigations and documentation.
  • Plan and Execute Safety Initiatives: Assist in the planning and start-up of new projects, ensuring safety issues are addressed and mitigated.
  • Conduct Safety Training and Orientations: Inventory safety-related training for workers, conduct new worker safety orientations, and provide regular safety training and awareness sessions.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors, conduct site inspections, and institute remedial action as required.
  • Manage Safety Documentation: Ensure completion of regular site inspection reports, note resolution to any deficiencies or actions taken, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate Safety Information: Conduct field-level safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety informational awareness sessions.
  • Administer COR Program: Assist in the administration, documentation, and management of our Company's COR program.
  • Provide Safety Support: Assist office and field staff on safety issues, provide safety resources for projects, and maintain an ongoing presence on job sites as needed.
Requirements
  • 10+ Years of Safety Management Experience: Minimum 5 years in a construction environment, with a proven track record of driving safety performance and compliance.
  • Leadership and Mentoring Skills: Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others, with strong mentoring skills and a results-oriented approach.
  • Industry Knowledge: Good working knowledge of BC's Occupational Health & Safety Act (Work Safe BC), policies, regulations, and industry standards as they apply to the construction industry.
  • Education and Certifications: Legally entitled to work in Canada, with a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
