About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Director to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving business growth and development through strategic planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Segmentation Strategy
    • Develop and implement client segmentation strategies to achieve business goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to set targets for volumes and client segmentation.
  • Segmentation Framework
    • Define and continuously evaluate segmentation guidelines for subsegments.
    • Track the performance of wealth segments and specific initiatives against set targets.
  • Business Growth
    • Develop multi-year plans for the profitable growth of the client base.
    • Establish and oversee the implementation of the segmentation framework and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of the segmentation program.
    • Monitor the performance of segmentation against established KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Client Alignment
    • Ensure strong controls and effectiveness of our internal referral process.
    • Align clients to the appropriate services across the Bank.
  • Research and Analysis
    • Conduct in-depth internal and external research to inform strategy.
    • Identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the client segment.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy.
    • Foster an inclusive work environment and communicate vision/values/business strategy.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Master's degree or MBA preferred with 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong understanding of Wealth Management business including Brokerage, Private Banking, Offshore, and Trust offerings.
    • Advanced knowledge of International Wealth Management industry, competitors, and their products and services.
    • Fluency in Spanish is an asset; on-the-ground experience working in Latin America is an asset.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify client pain-points and propose solutions.
    • Strong organization & self-management skills to convert strategic objectives and plans into measurable results.
    • Solid project and process management and change management skills.
    • Strong strategic influencing, coordination, prioritization, and execution skills.
    • Advanced presentation skills and adaptability to change.
    • Ability to work with a high degree of independence and originate programs and ideas.
