About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Equity and Inclusion Consultant to join our team at The Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) unit, you will play a critical role in promoting and advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to client departments in the implementation of corporate strategies related to EDIA, including the All Together Action Plan and the Government of Nova Scotia Accessibility Plan.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and resources to increase awareness and build capacity for EDIA across government.
  • Partner with colleagues from various departments and community-based groups to foster positive partnerships and collaborations.
  • Identify and remove barriers, including systemic barriers, that prevent members of equity groups from participating to their full potential in the workplace.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of policies, guidelines, and programs designed to foster equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplaces.
  • Develop resources related to EDIA for employees and managers across government.
  • Lead corporate-level EDIA assessments and reports.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on relevant data related to EDIA.
Requirements
  • Project management experience, including developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, guidelines, and programs.
  • Effective facilitation, presentation, and training skills.
  • Extensive experience partnering and building positive relationships with equity communities.
  • A high level of intercultural competence and a strong diversity and critical analysis lens.
  • Experience working on anti-racism policies and issues related to systemic discrimination affecting underrepresented groups.
  • Completion of post-secondary education, such as a bachelor or master's level degree in a related field, plus several years of related community and/or work experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 and comfortable learning new web-based enterprise applications.
