About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Oncology team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our clinicians in their daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, completing and forwarding requisitions for tests or services, and communicating with patients and staff as needed.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and preparing related instructions.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments, assisting in facilitating an efficient patient flow.
- Perform receptionist duties, greeting and registering patients, and supporting wayfinding and communication.
- Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
