Position Overview

The Administrative Support Specialist plays a vital role within our team, collaborating closely with all healthcare professionals in the department. This position is accountable for front desk operations, patient appointment scheduling, document preparation, and various clerical tasks, all while reporting directly to the Department Manager. The individual in this role exemplifies our organizational core competencies.

Key Responsibilities

The Administrative Support Specialist is integral to our team, working in conjunction with healthcare providers throughout the department. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing reception duties
  • Coordinating patient scheduling
  • Performing word processing tasks
  • Executing clerical functions as directed

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 education
  • A Medical Terminology Certificate
  • A diploma in Medical Office Administration or a related post-secondary qualification from an accredited institution is preferred

Experience Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • At least one year of clerical experience in an acute care healthcare setting
  • A proven track record of regular attendance
  • Current knowledge and proficiency in medical electronic health record systems
  • Experience with computerized provider/physician order entry (CPOE) is advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • A willingness to learn and innovate
  • A commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Analytical skills related to hospital operations
