Supply Ontario is in search of a dynamic and visionary leader to spearhead its data initiatives.

This position is crucial for converting data into actionable insights that enhance operational efficiency, optimize supply chain functions, and improve decision-making processes.

The successful candidate will possess a profound understanding of supply chain dynamics, coupled with advanced expertise in data analytics, to guide a team responsible for crafting, developing, and executing data strategies and solutions throughout the organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Digital and Data Officer, you will oversee the formulation and execution of Supply Ontario's data strategy and analytics operations, including the development of strategies, methodologies, tools, and processes to identify and gather supply chain data from various sources to align with the organization's strategic objectives.


Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

Data Strategy & Leadership:

Collaborate with executive leadership to pinpoint critical data opportunities and challenges within the supply chain and across all organizational functions.

Guide and mentor a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure the successful implementation of the data strategy.


Data Management & Governance:
Supervise the creation and execution of comprehensive data management practices to uphold data integrity, governance, quality, and security.

Oversee the integration of diverse data sources to establish a cohesive and consistent data repository for the agency while assessing function-based Datamart requirements.


Analytics & Reporting:


Provide advanced analytics expertise and guidance to management and staff regarding issues and risks that may impact the organization's objectives.

Lead the development of innovative predictive analytics models utilizing AI and machine learning, and oversee the creation of sophisticated, AI-driven dashboards and visualizations that deliver actionable insights and foster data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Process Optimization:
Leverage data-driven insights to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the Agency Data Processes and champion initiatives for enhancement.

Technology & Innovation:
Assess and implement cutting-edge data analytics tools and technologies that improve supply chain performance and scalability. Utilize Databricks to optimize the data pipeline, from ingestion to AI model deployment, ensuring rapid and reliable insights.

Stakeholder Engagement, Communication & Leadership:


Act as the primary liaison between the data and analytics team and other departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment on data initiatives.

Facilitate data-driven decision-making across the agency and with various third-party partners by fostering a culture of data literacy and empowerment.

Collaborate with the Chief Digital and Data Officer in shaping the overall data strategy and analytics operational plans, as well as in developing and reporting on performance metrics, program effectiveness, risks, and impacts related to the function and the organization as a whole.


Ideal candidates will exhibit the following qualifications:
A university degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.

A minimum of ten years of experience in data and analytics, with at least five years in a leadership capacity, emphasizing AI and machine learning.

Five or more years of experience with cloud-based data and analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, Power BI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is a plus.

Ability to manage and advocate for change towards a new organizational culture and vision. Proven leadership capabilities to establish a new organizational structure, systems, and standards.

Strong analytical skills and judgment with a demonstrated ability to gather and interpret complex information from various internal and external sources to facilitate high-level decision-making and strategic planning.

Exceptional business acumen and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to collaborate across business lines at senior levels to influence and drive change towards shared objectives.
