Job Summary

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Program Coordinator to lead the delivery of our Wasa-Nabin Program. This program aims to support Indigenous youth who are at-risk, providing them with a safe and culturally sensitive environment to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program plans that meet the needs of Indigenous youth, ensuring a timely and effective delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to identify and address the social, cultural, and recreational needs of youth.
  • Provide guidance and support to youth, promoting their engagement and participation in program activities.
  • Conduct data collection and evaluation to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • College diploma in Child and Youth Worker, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Indigenous children, youth, and families.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture and history, with a focus on the impacts of trauma and Indigenous youth engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (an asset).
  • A clear Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) is required.
