Position: Senior Accountant

Our firm is dedicated to delivering comprehensive tax, accounting, assurance, and consulting services tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises, individuals, and not-for-profit organizations throughout the Durham region and Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements for a diverse range of private and not-for-profit clients.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve various accounting challenges.
  • Prepare and file tax returns, including T1, T2, and T3, along with associated regulatory forms.
  • Utilize knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO).
  • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with engagement managers and partners to discuss identified technical matters.
  • Establish files for new clients and assist with the incorporation of new businesses.
  • Provide support to clients using accounting software.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with client management.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and strategies to enhance work processes.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of or currently pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in public accounting.
  • Expertise in assurance, accounting, and tax practices.
  • Strong grasp of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software, including Caseware, Cantax, Quickbooks, and Simply Accounting.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a high level of overall computer literacy.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in a workplace setting.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to work on-site.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary commensurate with experience and industry standards.
  • Health and dental coverage, along with reimbursement for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard workweek from Monday to Friday.
  • Overtime and weekend work as necessary.

Work Environment: In-person work is required.
