About the Role

Acadia University is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Director, Financial Services to join our Financial Services department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the financial operations of the university, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, and providing guidance and support to our financial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Services department, providing strategic direction and oversight of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and university policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to financial teams, including training and development programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that support the university's mission and goals.
  • Manage and oversee the financial planning and budgeting process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, ensuring the university's financial operations are compliant and efficient.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, including leadership roles in accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proven track record of success in financial operations, including experience with financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial software and systems, including Ellucian's Colleague software.
