About the Role

Acadia University seeks a visionary Executive Director, Financial Services to lead and transform our financial operations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Acadia's financial landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to guide a team of dedicated professionals across various accounting functions, including General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Research Accounting, Student Accounts, and Financial Reporting. As our Financial Services department undergoes a restructuring review, you will be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions and optimizing processes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Financial Services team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls to mitigate risk and safeguard Acadia's assets.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute the university's financial strategy.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to enhance financial systems and processes.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals.

Your Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a CPA designation.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive management experience in financial accounting, including leading diverse teams and overseeing external audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and Fund Accounting principles.
  • Proven ability to lead digital transformation initiatives and optimize financial systems.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
