Executive Director, Financial Operations

About the Role
Acadia University is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Director, Financial Services to join our Financial Services department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the financial operations of the university, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, and providing guidance and support to our financial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Financial Services department, providing strategic direction and oversight of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and university policies.
- Provide guidance and support to financial teams, including General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Research Accounting, Student Accounts, and Financial Reporting.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that support the university's mission and goals.
- Manage and develop financial systems, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, ensuring the university's financial operations are compliant and aligned with industry standards.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, including leadership roles in accounting and financial reporting.
- Proven track record of success in financial operations, including experience with financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with financial software, including Ellucian's Colleague, is an asset.
