Project Planning and Scheduling Manager

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Lead Planner to join our team in supporting the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. As a key member of our project controls team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of this complex project.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, ensuring data integrity across the project life cycle.
- Perform resource planning and analysis, forecasting resource requirements for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Conduct productivity analysis of construction operations, verifying and establishing productivity benchmarks for estimates.
- Prepare progress reports and dashboards to provide project status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze schedule variance, float, and trending, monitoring schedule KPIs.
- Develop progress measurement processes and analyze performance data.
- Manage schedule change notices and forecast project impact, implementing corrective action as needed.
- Perform audits on schedules, including those produced by subcontractors, and prepare required output documents.
- Apply continuous improvement in integrating schedules from various partners and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain, add, or modify schedule data and plans.
- Conduct forensic analysis of project schedules, producing recommendations for improvement and analyzing schedule delays.
- Oversee and support schedule 5D integration with the 3D model and cost, reporting outputs including cash flow and sequence simulations.
- Oversee and support project change management, including subcontractor claims, change requests, and dispute resolution.
- Identify commercial/schedule risks and develop mitigation measures to ensure timely and high-quality planning and scheduling-related deliverables.
- Contribute to Risk Mitigation Plans, utilizing Monte Carlo risk analysis processes.
- Foster a collaborative culture and environment that is open, inclusive, and respectful.
- Lead and develop project controls personnel, including Project Planning and Scheduling Specialists and Planners/Schedulers.
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience within the infrastructure and construction industry.
- Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
- Proven ability to effectively lead project planning and scheduling staff.
- Proven problem-solving skills with sound judgment, accepting ownership and accountability.
- Expert-level knowledge of project planning and scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and TILOS.
- SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro knowledge is an asset.
