Position Overview

The Overnight Hospitality Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the seamless overnight operations at Deerhurst Resort, prioritizing exceptional guest experiences. This position entails serving as a key resource for information and referrals, managing emergency situations, and upholding resort policies. The Overnight Manager is instrumental in optimizing occupancy and revenue, reporting directly to the Rooms Division Manager and contributing actively to the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs the overnight teams and manages all operational aspects within these departments.
  • Facilitates training and development for team members, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver outstanding guest service.
  • Coordinates scheduling and labor management to align with budgeted labor targets.
  • Provides exemplary and professional service to both guests and team members.
  • Monitors the safety and well-being of guests and staff by identifying and reporting potential hazards.
  • Ensures exceptional guest service throughout the arrival, stay, and departure processes, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Manages cash handling and float responsibilities.
  • Responds to and follows up on guest inquiries and feedback.
  • Oversees the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the lobby and public areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring health and safety standards are met for all departments during the overnight shift.
  • Acts on behalf of the Executive Office, ensuring compliance with company and resort standards.
  • Ensures daily audits are balanced and any discrepancies are reported to the Controller.
  • Conducts daily backups of the Property Management System.
  • Champions the allocation and assignment of rooms for incoming guest reservations.
  • Performs switchboard duties, including operating multi-line phone systems and radios.

  • Competence in understanding financial data and information.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in supervising personnel, including recruitment, training, and motivation.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management or related field is an asset.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Valid Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification required.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license required.
  • Smart Serve Certificate is mandatory.
