Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role within our multidisciplinary team, leveraging clinical knowledge and expertise to enhance the health outcomes of children, adolescents, and their families. This position emphasizes leadership and excellence in nursing, focusing on clinical practice, consultation, education, and research specifically related to the pediatric and transitional age populations.


Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and providing clinical interventions for children and adolescents facing mental health challenges.
  • Delivering specialized evaluation, coordination, and treatment for individuals experiencing mental health issues.
  • Offering supportive counseling, educational resources, and guidance to families within the Urgent Care Clinic.
  • Collaborating effectively with an inter-professional team within the Mental Health Program and establishing partnerships with community organizations.

Qualifications

Halton Healthcare is in search of candidates who exemplify leadership in their profession. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's Degree in Nursing or a recognized equivalent.
  • Current registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, preferably with a Primary Health Care specialty certificate.
  • A Nurse Practitioner's Certificate from an accredited program.
  • Membership in a professional association such as CNA, RNAO, or NPAO is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Mental Health, particularly with children, adolescents, and eating disorders.
  • Expertise in bio-psychosocial assessments and the ability to develop person-centered, strength-based strategies that align with evidence-based practices.
  • Experience in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care.
  • A comprehensive understanding of individual, family, group, and crisis counseling methods.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with families of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience in a fast-paced hospital environment and working with inter-professional teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and electronic health care platforms.

Additional Information

Work Schedule: Various rotating shifts; hours may vary based on operational needs.

Compensation: $58.800 to $72.010 per hour.
