In the role of Nurse Practitioner, you will be an integral part of our collaborative healthcare team, leveraging your clinical acumen and comprehensive understanding of pediatric and adolescent health to devise and assess patient care strategies. Key Responsibilities
This position entails the identification, evaluation, consultation, and clinical intervention for children and adolescents facing mental health challenges. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting specialized assessments and coordinating treatment for individuals with mental health concerns.
- Providing supportive counseling, educational resources, and guidance to children, adolescents, and their families within the Urgent Care Clinic.
- Collaborating with an inter-professional team within the Mental Health Program and building partnerships with community organizations.
Qualifications
Halton Healthcare is in search of dedicated professionals who excel in their field. The successful candidate should be a collaborative team player with strong communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centered approach. Required qualifications include:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred.
- Current registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, ideally with a Primary Health Care specialty certificate.
- Nurse Practitioner Certification from an accredited program.
- Membership in a professional nursing association such as CNA, RNAO, or NPAO is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in Mental Health, particularly with children and adolescents.
- Proficiency in conducting bio-psychosocial assessments and developing strength-based treatment strategies.
- Experience in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care practices.
- Ability to integrate care models that connect clients with primary care services.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques for individuals, families, and groups.
- Experience working with families affected by mental health and substance use disorders.
- Understanding of concurrent mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience in fast-paced healthcare environments and working with inter-professional teams.
- Awareness of cultural safety principles and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Capability to tailor treatment services to meet the unique needs of clients and their families.
- Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
- Proficiency in MS Office and electronic health record systems.
- Strong record of employment and attendance.
- Experience in psychoeducation and psychotherapy is advantageous.
Employment Status : Permanent Part-time
Work Hours : Various rotating shifts; hours may vary based on operational requirements.
Compensation : Competitive hourly rate.
