The YMCA of Greater Toronto is committed to providing over 160,000 children with access to nutritious meals through various active programs in the Region of Peel. These initiatives are linked to positive educational outcomes, including enhanced academic performance and improved student behavior. The YMCA collaborates with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) to ensure the financial sustainability and effectiveness of these programs.

Role Overview: The Student Nutrition Program Team Leader will support the Director in delivering leadership, collaboration, and oversight for the Student Nutrition Programs throughout the Region of Peel. This position will assume accountability in the absence of the Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster strong relationships and collaborate with school programs, community members, and partner organizations to achieve program objectives.
  • Engage in local fundraising initiatives as necessary.
  • Consult with community agencies, such as Public Health Departments, to gather resources for the program and its participants.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Student Nutrition Program locations, ensuring professional representation of the YMCA.
  • Provide guidance, problem-solving, and leadership to ensure the safe operation of programs.
  • Develop and update program information materials as needed.
  • Support and collaborate with volunteers involved in school programs.
  • Coordinate the launch of new program sites.
  • Assist program locations in engaging parents and students to promote program success.
  • Work with coordinators to ensure accurate tracking of Student Nutrition Program data, adhering to MCCSS guidelines.
  • Keep detailed records of site visits and organize relevant documentation for Student Nutrition Programs.
  • Manage the inventory of program equipment and submit requests for new resources as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the local community.
  • Understanding of the Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
  • Knowledge of both public and separate school systems and the education sector.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger charitable organization.
  • Results-oriented and goal-focused.
  • Professional demeanor and representation of the YMCA and Student Nutrition Program.
  • Strong collaboration skills with community members, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Effective organizational and planning abilities to implement relevant activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity principles.
