Job Summary

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant in Math and Science to join our team. As a key member of our Education Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting the implementation, development, and evaluation of study programs, class management, and instructional materials for Primary French teachers in our KI schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Ensure High-Quality Education: Provide advice and support to Primary French teachers in the subject areas of math and science, ensuring that education in Nunavik communities is of high quality and culturally relevant.
  • Competency-Based Approach: Support the KI competency-based approach to learning and evaluation, promoting it with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Professional Learning Communities: Lead Professional Learning communities, training sessions, and workshops with teachers, in person or virtually, to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Learning and Evaluation Situations: Develop Learning and Evaluation Situations (LESs) and other support materials adapted to new second-language learners in primary-level courses.
  • Program Revision: Participate in the revision of programs adapted to Inuit culture, language, and values, as well as a second-language learning environment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with team members across departments and cultures on the development of materials, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Inventory Management: Follow up on inventories of printing and other class materials for math and science in the primary sector.
  • Project Support: Support specific projects in these teaching fields, utilizing creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Science Fair and Regional Projects: Promote and support Primary teachers in the Science Fair and other regional projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of specialization, notably education.
  • Teaching Qualifications: Legal qualification to teach in the province of Quebec.
  • Experience: Experience as a teacher, with teaching in Nunavik considered an asset.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in French, as well as a working knowledge of English.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Primary Math and Science concepts.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft 365, including Teams and other Education Technology apps.
  • Cultural Competence: Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
Classification and Benefits

This position belongs to job category 2104, with a salary range of $49,456 to $87,626 annually, depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
