Job Summary

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant in Math and Science to join our team. As a key member of our Education Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting the implementation, development, and evaluation of study programs, class management, and instructional materials for Primary French teachers in our KI schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to Primary French teachers in the subject areas of math and science to ensure high-quality and culturally relevant education in Nunavik communities.
  • Support the KI competency-based approach to learning and evaluation, promoting it with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Lead Professional Learning communities, training sessions, and workshops with teachers, both in-person and virtually.
  • Develop Learning and Evaluation Situations (LESs) and other support materials tailored to new second-language learners in primary-level courses.
  • Participate in the revision of programs adapted to Inuit culture, language, and values, as well as a second-language learning environment.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments and cultures on the development of materials.
  • Follow up on inventories of printing and other class materials for math and science in the primary sector.
  • Support specific projects in these teaching fields, utilizing creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Promote and support Primary teachers in the Science Fair and other regional projects.
  • Perform related tasks as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of specialization, such as education.
  • Legal qualification to teach in the province of Quebec.
  • Experience as a teacher, with teaching in Nunavik considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French, as well as a working knowledge of English.
  • Extensive knowledge of Primary Math and Science concepts.
  • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft 365, including Teams and other Education Technology apps.
  • Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
Classification / Salary / Benefits

This position belongs to job category 2104, with an annual salary ranging from $49,456 to $87,626, depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
