Job Title: Education Consultant

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team.

About the Role:

The Education Consultant will provide training and support to schools in the awareness, implementation, and maintenance of the Compassionate Schools approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and encourage understanding of the concept and impacts of intergenerational and cultural trauma among school personnel.
  • Support the implementation of a healthy and safe school environment for everyone at school by proposing a variety of tools and programs sensitive to the needs of students.
  • Promote and adapt the use of approaches and tools rooted in Inuit culture and values.
  • Encourage the creation and maintenance of important relationships with both school personnel and with various community and school stakeholders.
  • Support principals and staff in behavioural management in order to promote the well-being and success of students and staff working in schools.
  • Develop, adapt and offer training and workshops on all the tools and concepts related to the Compassionate Schools approach to school personnel.
  • Develop, adapt, offer trainings, materials and support to school personnel in implementing and maintaining consistency and high quality of services provided in the nurture group.
  • Mentor team leaders and internal coaches on school teams
  • Be willing and able to travel frequently throughout Nunavik
  • Any other related tasks as determined by his/her supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or similar field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English
  • Work within Kativik School Board would be an asset
  • Experience in working with students with challenging behaviours
  • Good classroom management skills, knowledge of trauma informed practices and experience using reflective teaching practices
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Meeting facilitation skills and experience leading a group discussion
  • Responsible, open-minded, and aware of Inuit culture/ history
  • Strong work ethic and effective problem-solving skills
Benefits:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 TO $92 027 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
