About the Role

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Compassionate Schools initiative, you will play a vital role in promoting a healthy and safe school environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote Trauma-Informed Practices: Develop and implement strategies to promote understanding and awareness of intergenerational and cultural trauma among school personnel.
  • Support School Implementation: Provide training and support to schools in the awareness, implementation, and maintenance of the Compassionate Schools approach.
  • Culturally Responsive Practices: Promote and adapt the use of approaches and tools rooted in Inuit culture and values.
  • Relationship Building: Foster important relationships with school personnel, community stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
  • Behavioural Support: Support principals and staff in behavioural management to promote student and staff well-being.
  • Training and Development: Develop, adapt, and offer training and workshops on Compassionate Schools tools and concepts to school personnel.
  • Nurture Group Support: Develop, adapt, offer trainings, materials, and support to school personnel in implementing and maintaining consistency and high quality of services provided in the nurture group.
  • Mentorship: Mentor team leaders and internal coaches on school teams.
  • Travel: Be willing and able to travel frequently throughout Nunavik.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or similar field.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field.
  • Language: Fluency in two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Work Experience: Experience working with students with challenging behaviours.
  • Classroom Management: Good classroom management skills, knowledge of trauma-informed practices, and experience using reflective teaching practices.
  • PBIS: Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Meeting Facilitation: Meeting facilitation skills and experience leading a group discussion.
  • Cultural Awareness: Responsible, open-minded, and aware of Inuit culture/history.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic and effective problem-solving skills.
Classification / Salary / Benefits

This position belongs to job category 2104. The salary range is from $49,456 to $92,027 annually, depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
