NOTE: The position of education consultant encompasses responsibility for providing advice and support to staff of educational institutions and services in the development of positive behaviour management for students and classrooms that promotes the inclusion and safety for all stakeholders.

**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty.

**NATURE OF THE WORK**
The position of education consultant encompasses responsibility for providing advice and support to staff of educational institutions and services
in the implementation, development, and evaluation of programs of study, class management and instructional materials.

**CHARACTERISTICS**
The education consultant participates in carrying out the educational project and the special projects of educational institutions; he or she participates
in the development, implementation, and evaluation of their success plan, while complying with the academic and administrative requirements
of both the educational institutions and the school board.
The education consultant contributes to the implementation of programs of study and training, provides advice to the teachers and administration
concerning the interpretation of those programs, designs and leads training workshops and sessions on program components; he or she
collaborates in developing learning situations and supports experimentation in class.
He or she provides advice and support to teachers either individually or in a group format in matters pertaining to their daily teaching activities;
he or she develops or selects and delivers training and instrumentation activities designed to respond to needs in pedagogical adaptation, innovation,
and development.

**RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS**
- Assist administrators, teachers and other professionals in the selection and implementation of strategies aimed at helping students who are experiencing social maladjustments. He or she can help define intervention objectives and means and work with team members to harmonize and coordinate interventions.
- Oversee the running of the nurturing support center classrooms in all schools. This involves providing professional development to school staffs on best practices using trauma-informed, and relationship-based methodology, supporting NEST technicians and school resource teams.
- Collaborate with in-school professionals, support staff and teachers to develop preventive measures that will help individual students to self-regulate and help staff to de-escalate critical situations.
- Assist staff in debriefing incidents involving aggression or conflict and in developing safety plans and other measures to prevent the reoccurrence of such situations.
- Provide school teams with professional development training on all aspects pertaining to behaviour management (e.g., classroom management, trauma-informed schools, restorative practices, cultural awareness. etc.).
- Collaborate with other school resources, partner organizations, and the Minister of Education.
- Attend IMD (Intervention en Milieu Defavorise) meetings, share, and disseminate information.
- Attend the provincial School Climate Committee meetings and Center of Excellence for Behaviour Management meetings.
- Provide training to NFSB staff in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention

**SCHOOL BOARD REQUIREMENTS**
- Bilingual - strong knowledge of English and French.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to lead professional
- development workshops.
- Strong interpersonal skills; team player and builder.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license to travel to all schools to provide support.
- Good knowledge of trauma-informed practices
- Experience working with the Indigenous community is an asset.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is an asset.
- High level of empathy, care, and sensitivity to the needs of students.
- Experience working in schools and school boards is an asset.

**Remuneration**
$ 53 876 to $100 246 in conformity with the salary scales set by the MEES.
