Job Summary:

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Clinical Laboratory team at Bella Coola General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex tests, utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, to ensure accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of laboratory tests, including chemistry, hematology, and other related areas, to support patient care and diagnosis.
  • Collect and process specimens, validate test results, and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Participate in departmental training programs to stay up-to-date with new and existing tests and procedures, and to enhance your skills and knowledge in laboratory techniques.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and to ensure seamless communication and coordination of laboratory results.

Requirements:

  • Certification by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and basic care training.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques, including quality control.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
