Position Overview:
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is on the lookout for a proficient Medical Technologist to enhance their Laboratory and Diagnostic Services team. This role is ideal for professionals eager to apply their skills in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the delivery of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services across the designated region.
- Ensure compliance with departmental protocols and safety regulations.
- Manage staff operations, including recruitment and training initiatives.
- Introduce innovative techniques and methodologies to improve service delivery.
- Perform both routine and intricate tests utilizing both manual and automated methods.
- Guide and mentor a team of Medical Technologists.
About the Role:
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive environment, contributing to the health and well-being of the community.
Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience:
- Certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- A Bachelor of Science degree or its equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience, including supervisory roles.
- Flexibility to travel within the designated region.
Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of Medical Laboratory Technologist standards and guidelines.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and manage priorities effectively.
- Proven skills in conflict resolution and team coaching.
- Expertise in operating laboratory instruments and computerized systems.
