Overview:
Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Lab Technologist within our Clinical Laboratory team. We are seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to our healthcare services.
- Conduct a range of routine and complex analyses using both manual techniques and automated systems in a specified laboratory environment.
- Manage responsibilities including patient interaction, specimen collection and reception, test result validation and reporting, instrument maintenance, and preparation of solutions and control agents, adhering to established protocols and safety regulations.
- Engage in departmental training initiatives across various disciplines such as chemistry and hematology, aimed at enhancing knowledge of current and new testing methodologies.
Location: Bella Coola, BC
Bella Coola General Hospital offers a comprehensive suite of services, including acute and long-term care, emergency services, laboratory and diagnostic imaging, Telehealth, mental health, public health, home and community support, a medical clinic, and pharmacy services.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science along with foundational care training.
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental understanding of laboratory procedures and quality control measures.
- Awareness of other healthcare disciplines and their contributions to patient care using point-of-care testing.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
- Capacity to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in conjunction with team members.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated independence and teamwork capabilities.
- Physical capability to fulfill the role's responsibilities.
- Proficiency in operating relevant equipment and applying techniques suitable for the laboratory's designated areas.
