Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team in Bella Coola, BC. As a Medical Technologist at VCH, you will provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of services; monitor the quality of technical work performed to ensure departmental standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Schedule staff activities and participate in recruitment and performance management; train and coach team members.
- Facilitate workplace solutions and the implementation of new techniques and procedures.
- Perform a variety of routine/complex tests utilizing manual and automated procedures/instruments, when required.
- Supervise at least one (1) other Medical Technologist and a total staff of up to and including seven (7) FTE.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in the Central Coast region. As a Medical Technologist at VCH, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, and to develop your skills and expertise in a variety of areas.
Requirements
- Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
- Bachelor of Science degree or an Advanced Registered certificate or completion of a supervisory/management program.
- Minimum of five (5) years' recent, related experience including two (2) years' experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Regular travel within the Central Coast is required. Expenses will be reimbursed as per the Collective Agreement.
