Product Care Recycling is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and managing recycling initiatives across Canada and the United States. Our team is focused on creating sustainable recycling solutions for various products, including lighting, electronics, paint, pesticides, smoke alarms, and household appliances.

Position Overview

The Director of Marketing and Communications plays a crucial role in crafting and executing marketing and communication strategies that align with the objectives of Product Care Recycling. Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of leading effective marketing campaigns and managing communications for both B2C and B2B audiences, along with experience in guiding a team of marketing professionals.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership
  • Oversee and mentor a team of marketing and communications experts, providing necessary guidance and support.
  • Manage Product Care's brand identity and reputation, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
  • Contribute to the Senior Management Team by offering insights on organizational strategies and decisions.
  • Develop and manage the Marketing & Communications budget to ensure effective strategy implementation.
  • Coordinate marketing brief processes and oversee the development of communications for both consumer and business audiences.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on communication strategies, including crisis management.
Marketing and Communication Strategy
  • Design and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Manage communication plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure efficient execution of initiatives.
  • Enhance member engagement through effective communication and feedback mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with various teams to align communication efforts with business objectives.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of communication assets, including websites, brochures, and newsletters.
  • Lead the creation of external communications, such as reports and promotional materials.
  • Drive awareness of recycling programs and initiatives through various promotional channels.
  • Organize and execute promotional events in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage public relations and media communications to enhance organizational visibility.
  • Establish internal communication protocols that reflect the organization's culture.
  • Craft engaging content for diverse communication channels and social media platforms.
  • Monitor communication performance metrics to assess effectiveness and refine strategies.
  • Supervise a team of marketing communication professionals and manage vendor relationships.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Over 12 years of experience in marketing and communications, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English; bilingualism in French is an asset.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team motivation and development.
  • Proven project management skills and experience managing complex budgets.
  • A solid understanding of recycling initiatives and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • A customer-service orientation and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with marketing tools and digital platforms.
